With continuous urban renewal and infrastructure development, the amount of construction and renovation waste has increased significantly. Instead of sending these materials directly to landfill, recycling them into reusable resources has become a more sustainable solution.
In Nanjing, China, Zhongyi designed and supplied a construction waste recycling plant to process mixed construction waste, renovation waste, and aged waste materials. The system separates valuable components from waste streams and converts them into recycled aggregates for road construction, building materials, and other applications.

Project Background
The raw materials received by the plant came mainly from demolition sites, renovation projects, and old waste deposits. Unlike single-source waste, these materials contained a mixture of concrete blocks, bricks, tiles, wood, plastics, metals, and other impurities.
The main challenge for the customer was how to process this mixed waste efficiently while maintaining the quality of recycled products. Traditional manual sorting methods could not meet the required capacity, and direct landfill disposal would increase operating costs and waste valuable resources. Therefore, the project required a complete recycling system capable of crushing, separating, and recovering different materials in one continuous process.

Based on the material characteristics and output requirements, Zhongyi designed a complete recycling process integrating feeding, crushing, screening, magnetic separation, air separation, and sorting systems.






Main Equipment Configuration
The recycling system is equipped with a combination of feeding, screening, and air separation equipment to handle complex construction waste streams and improve material recovery efficiency.

Production Line Process
Feeding → Pre-Screening → Crushing → Screening → Magnetic Separation → Air Separation → Final Product Output
Feeding and Pre-Screening System
At the beginning of the process, mixed construction waste is delivered into the feeding system and evenly transferred to the following equipment. The pre-screening stage removes oversized materials and separates unsuitable particles before crushing, helping improve the stability of the entire production line.
Crushing and Screening for Recycled Aggregate Production
After pre-processing, the waste enters the crushing stage where large concrete blocks, bricks, and other hard materials are reduced into smaller particles. Zhongyi crushing equipment is designed for handling abrasive construction waste and provides stable size reduction during continuous operation.
The crushed materials are then classified by multi-layer screening equipment into different sizes, such as 0–5 mm, 5–10 mm, and 10–20 mm recycled aggregates. These products can be used in road base construction, recycled brick manufacturing, and other building applications.
Separation of Metals and Lightweight Materials
To improve the quality of recycled aggregates, the system includes magnetic separation and air separation units. Magnetic separators recover ferrous metals from the material stream, while air separators remove lightweight impurities such as plastics, foam, fabric, and wood.
This separation process reduces impurities in the material stream and improves the quality and commercial value of the recycled products.
