What is a Comprehensive Windshifter Recycling Machine?
The Comprehensive Windshifter Recycling Machine, also known as an air classifier, air separator, or air density separator, is a core piece of solid waste processing equipment that separates light and heavy materials based on differences in airflow and material density. The equipment utilizes a dual-blower system and an optimized air duct structure, combined with a uniform feeding system (optional belt or vibrating feeder), to create a stable, continuous airflow circulation within an extra-large settling chamber, thereby achieving efficient separation of lightweight materials (such as plastic film, paper, and wood chips) from heavy materials (such as sand, gravel, bricks, and metal). Typical processing capacity ranges from approximately 30 to 150 m³/h, with stable operation and strong adaptability.
In the process flow, this equipment is typically positioned after crushing and screening and before fine sorting and resource recovery, serving as a key link connecting “pretreatment” and “fine sorting.” Upstream equipment generally includes waste shredders, crushers, trommel screens or vibrating screens, and conveyor systems, which are used to achieve material disintegration and particle size control; Downstream, it connects to magnetic separation equipment, manual sorting platforms, or RDF preparation systems to enable metal recovery, combustible material extraction, and the graded utilization of recycled aggregates. Its large settling chamber structure and powerful airflow circulation design effectively prevent material blockages and entanglement, ensuring more stable and efficient continuous processing of construction waste, renovation waste, and mixed light and heavy materials.
Xinzhongyi ECO provides design, manufacturing, integration and installation of customized windshifter systems, delivering complete recycling line solutions based on project requirements with stable performance and long-term support.

Working Principle
The working principle of a comprehensive windshifter recycling machine is based on aerodynamic separation and material density differences. After uniform feeding through a belt or vibrating feeder, the material is evenly distributed into the separation chamber. A dual fan system generates a controlled and stable airflow, forming an upward and circulating air stream inside a large settling chamber. Under the action of air resistance, low-density materials such as plastic film, paper, textiles, and light wood are lifted and carried forward by the airflow, while heavier fractions such as stones, glass, metals, and inert aggregates lose momentum and fall downward due to gravity.
The separation efficiency is adjusted by controlling air volume, airflow velocity, and the feeding rate, allowing flexible adaptation to different waste compositions. The enlarged settling chamber reduces turbulence and prevents material blockage, ensuring continuous and stable operation even with irregular shredded mixtures. In typical configurations, the system achieves high-precision separation in a single pass, improving downstream sorting efficiency and reducing load on subsequent magnetic separation or manual sorting processes.

Advantages
The comprehensive windshifter machine delivers stable light–heavy separation for mixed waste streams. Dual fans and a large settling chamber keep material flow smooth and reduce clogging, even with shredded inputs. Air volume and flow speed are adjustable, allowing practical control of separation accuracy. It improves the quality of light fractions like film, paper, and textiles, and reduces burden on downstream sorting and recycling units.
Applications
Comprehensive windshifter machines are suitable for MSW, C&D waste, RDF/SRF, industrial waste, bulky waste, aged waste, and shredded mixed light–heavy materials after pre-shredding. They efficiently separate plastic film, paper, textiles, wood, and other light fractions from stones, glass, metals, sand, and heavy inert materials. The feed size can reach up to 300–500 mm, enabling stable separation into light and heavy streams for downstream recycling, material recovery, or RDF fuel production.
