Project Overview

With the continued development of urban renovation and construction projects, the amount of renovation waste containing concrete, bricks, soil, wood, plastics, foam and metal has increased. The customer, a local solid waste resource recovery company, planned to build a dedicated processing line to reduce disposal volumes and recover usable materials from mixed renovation waste.

Based on the customer’s material characteristics, required capacity and existing plant conditions, Zhongyi Machinery designed a customized 150–200 t/h renovation waste recycling line. The project included process design, equipment supply, on-site installation and commissioning, as well as operator training and production support.

150–200 TPH Construction and Renovation Waste Recycling Project

Customer Requirements and Project Challenges

The customer needed a continuous processing system capable of handling mixed renovation waste while separating mineral materials, lightweight contaminants and ferrous metals. The main requirements included:

  • Process mixed concrete, brick, soil, plastic, foam, wood and metal materials.
  • Produce different sizes of recycled mineral materials through crushing and screening.
  • Remove lightweight materials and ferrous contaminants from the aggregate stream.
  • Fit the equipment arrangement into the customer’s existing plant space.
  • Reduce manual sorting requirements through continuous processing.
  • Provide on-site installation, commissioning and operator training.

The mixed feed also created several practical challenges. Soil, foam and flexible materials could accumulate around screening equipment and affect material flow, while the limited plant space required careful equipment positioning and conveyor routing. In addition, the multiple crushing, screening and separation units needed to be properly coordinated during commissioning.

Customized Renovation Waste Recycling Solution

After reviewing the material characteristics and plant conditions, Zhongyi adopted a screening and separation-first process combined with crushing and multi-stage classification. The system integrates an apron pan feeder, impact crusher, ballistic separator, spiral shaft screen, trommel screen, flip-flop screens, air separator, magnetic separator and centralized electrical control system.

Zhongyi’s engineering team also provided on-site installation and commissioning. During startup, the engineers checked equipment connections, adjusted the operating parameters and coordinated the individual processing units according to the actual material flow. This helped the customer complete the transition from equipment installation to continuous production more efficiently.

Main Equipment Configuration

The 150–200 TPH renovation waste recycling line combines feeding, crushing, screening and separation equipment to process mixed concrete, brick, soil, wood, plastic, foam and metal, producing classified mineral materials while removing lightweight and ferrous contaminants.

  • Apron Pan Feeder: Feeds mixed renovation waste continuously and handles heavy and irregular materials.
  • Jaw Crusher: Performs primary crushing of large concrete, brick and other hard mineral materials.
  • Impact Crusher: Further reduces crushed mineral materials and provides the required particle size for downstream screening.
  • Ballistic Separator: Separates heavier mineral materials from lighter fractions in mixed renovation waste.
  • Flip-Flop Screen: Screens difficult, damp and soil-containing materials while reducing material blockage and screen blinding.
  • Magnetic Separator: Removes ferrous materials such as rebar, iron wire, nails and steel fragments from the material stream.
  • Air Separator: Removes lightweight materials such as foam, wood and plastic from the recovered mineral fraction.
  • Belt Conveyors: Transfer materials between processing units and convey finished fractions to designated stockpiling areas.
  • Feeding Hopper: Provides a buffer for incoming materials and maintains a stable feed to the processing system.
  • Electrical Control System: Centralizes equipment operation and coordinates the main processing units during production.

Renovation Waste Recycling Process

Mixed renovation waste is unloaded into the receiving hopper and continuously fed by the apron pan feeder. Large mineral materials first pass through the jaw crusher for primary size reduction, while the material is then transferred through the screening and separation stages. Magnetic separators remove ferrous materials such as steel and iron fragments during the process, and the flip-flop screens classify the material into different size fractions.

Oversized mineral material is directed to the impact crusher for further crushing and then returned to the screening system for reclassification. The ballistic separator separates heavy mineral material from lighter fractions, while the air separator removes foam, wood, plastic and other lightweight contaminants. Belt conveyors connect the individual units and transfer the separated materials to their respective stockpiling areas, forming a continuous 150–200 TPH renovation waste recycling process.

Advantages

For this renovation waste project, Xinzhongyi ECO developed a 150–200 TPH recycling system based on the material composition, required output and available plant space.

  • Experience with Mixed Renovation Waste: Xinzhongyi ECO has experience in processing renovation waste containing concrete, brick, soil, wood, plastic, foam and metal, with process configurations adapted to different material conditions.
  • Material-Based Process Design: The equipment arrangement is determined by feed composition, capacity, target product sizes and available plant space. Screening and separation stages are positioned according to the actual material flow.
  • Complete System Integration: The feeder, crushers, ballistic separator, screens, magnetic separator, air separator and conveyors are integrated into one continuous processing system, with each stage coordinated for stable material flow.
  • On-Site Installation and Commissioning: Xinzhongyi ECO provides equipment installation, connection checks, trial operation and process adjustment to ensure the system operates according to actual site and material conditions.
  • Operator Training and Technical Support: After commissioning, engineers provide guidance on operation, routine maintenance and troubleshooting, with spare parts and technical support available for continued plant operation.

Project Results

The completed recycling line was installed, commissioned and tested at the designed 150–200 t/h capacity. During trial operation, the combined screening and separation stages handled mixed renovation waste effectively, while the flip-flop screens helped maintain material flow when processing soil-containing and damp fractions.

The system produces separated mineral size fractions while removing ferrous and lightweight materials through magnetic and air separation. Xinzhongyi ECO’s engineers also provided on-site operator training covering daily operation, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting, enabling the customer’s team to take over regular plant operation after commissioning.
